Meet Our Staff


Angie Hahn

At five years old, Miss Angie began her dancing career at Bunny Sanford’s School of Dance where she trained in ballet, tap, jazz, and hip hop.  During that time she realized that her dream was to teach others to dance and she became a teacher at the age of 15.  Miss Angie’s goal is to continue inspiring her students to have a love for dance and the arts.  She strives to teach expression through movement and wants her dancers to have an understanding of why we dance.  She is especially passionate about training dancers who want to perfect the art of ballet.   Miss Angie has successfully trained many dancers who have gone on to pursue professional careers performing on Broadway, in various ballet companies, and other venues throughout the U.S. 


Miss Angie has had extensive training with numerous dance companies and workshops including, the National Ballet School of Canada, Joffrey Chicago, Jazz Dance World Congress, Dance Master’s, and the Cecchetti Council of America Summer Intensives.  In addition, Miss Angie has danced professionally for Dance Detroit, the Aretha Franklin tour, the Windsor Casino, and the Detroit Institute of Art film festival.  She has also performed with the DSO and LSO in notable ballets such as the Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, Cinderella, and Coppélia. 


Upon Bunny Sanford’s retirement in June 2011, Miss Angie acquired the studio and is now the owner of Angie Hahn’s Academy of Dance. 

Marie Rabey

Miss Marie began her ballet studies with Connie Reppa in Dearborn, Michigan, and continued her dance training at Bunny Sanford School of Dance. Also studying under Sandra Severo, and at the Interlochen Arts Camp, she went on to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in dance at Marygrove College, where she studied with Iacob Lascu. Performing as a principal dancer in the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's annual Nutcracker for 17 years, Marie also acted as the production's Ballet Mistress. She has also danced solo and principal roles in the Michigan Theater productions of Swan Lake, The Sleeping Beauty, and Romeo and Juliet, and in several operas, including choreographing the dance sequences for La Traviata. Marie enjoyed the opportunity to dance in a national touring production of The Phantom of the Opera and danced on tour with the "Queen of Soul," Aretha Franklin.  Other companies she has performed with include Harbinger Dance Company, More and More Dances, and the Ohio Ballet. 


Her teaching credits include nearly 30 years of teaching at Bunny Sanford School of Dance, as well as teaching for other local schools and at Oakland University and Eastern Michigan University. Currently, Miss Marie enjoys her teaching time, at Angie Hahn’s Academy of Dance, and passing along the tradition of ballet to her students. She also enjoys spending time with her husband Bruce and son Kyle, who enjoys his dance classes at Angie Hahn’s Academy of Dance immensely.

Katina Nigro


Originally from Michigan, Katina has performed professionally all  over the country . Her performance credits include, recording artist Kristine W. And the Sting  , American Superstars, Legends in Concert , Country Tonite, and The Dream King , which she also choreographed and was dance captain for . These are just to name a few ... She is a past Tremaine scholarship winner and has been on faculty at numerous dance  studios in Las Vegas , Michigan and Florida . She is also a certified member of Dance Masters of America in jazz and tap .

Devon Campbell

Devon Campbell known professionally as “Uri Mercury”, has been an active Michigan dancer/choreographer for the past 17 years.  Some of his most notable work includes being a featured dancer on “Screamtour 2012” with Mindless Behavior, OMG Girls, and Diggy Simmons, opening for Lil Wayne, back up dancer/choreographer for The Shop Boys, R&B singers: LaBritney, Princeton, Loreal, Rocco, Ryan Allen, Nielle,  Deleante Kareer, Cullen Emadrey, Remington Loyd, JaVon Lewis, Female Emcee B. Focus, Rodney Howard, Male Impersonator: Ric Key, as well as Drag Icons: Kourtney Breeze, and Melanie Von Kruz.  Mr. Campbell also had the opportunity to choreograph 17 consecutive sets for Motor City Choreographers Collective, as well as a set choreography for the Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade.  


Outside of studio work and commercial work, Uri’s true love comes from Dance Crews/Companies .  His most notable piece of work is his dance company, “Melodic Nocturne Dance Tribe”.  Since creating this group, Uri’s work took on a new form spreading to all areas of the Michigan dance scene, Chicago, Ohio, Milwaukee, Atlanta, L.A, and abroad. Melodic Nocturne is the longest running non-collegiate dance organization in the State of Michigan, running 11yrs long as of January 19th 2019. Coming second only to "Hardcore Detroit. Christa Smutek

Christa studied at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor and received her B.S. in Movement Science from the School of Kinesiology graduating with distinction and University Honors. Christa has performed professionally with companies including ArtLab J Dance, Next Level Dance Company, SueMo Dance Company, and Danceworks Performance Company. Her recent performances include the 2017 Strike a Pose, Make a Promise Gala for AIDS Research Center, the Wisconsin ESPY Awards on ESPN, and the Purple Veins Prince Tribute Tour.


In addition to dancing, Christa has been teaching and choreographing for 9 years. Her contemporary choreography has been showcased at the Michigan Youth Arts Festival 2014, 2015, Detroit Dance City Festival 2015, Detroit Dance Film Festival 2015, 2016, 2017, Motor City Choreographer Collective 2015, 2016, Brighton Dance Festival 2015, Dance Canvas 2016, RADfest Midwest 2016, Milwaukee Fringe Festival 2016, 2017, 2018, Columbus Arts Festival 2017, 2018, Indiana Dance Festival, and Spring To Dance in St. Louis, MO. Her piece, Architect of the Mind, was the winner of Milwaukee’s “Dance MKE” competition in 2017. Her choreography was a finalist in the American Choreographic Festival 2018. She most recently set choreography for US International Ballet in Wilmington, NC. She has received numerous choreography awards and IDA nominations for her competitive choreography. Christa has also taught master classes and set guest work in Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio, Missouri, Georgia, New Jersey, Canada, and the Virgin Islands. She was the Associate Artistic Director of SueMo Dance Company in Milwaukee, WI for 5 seasons.

In 2016 she established herself as Christa Smutek LLC. She is currently the Artistic Director of Artistic Edge Dance Centre and continuing her freelance work throughout the midwest. Most recently, she is the proud mother of Eli Antony, born January 27, 2018.

Nicole Bonsall

A Michigan native, Nicole Bonsall received her early classical ballet training under the tutelage of her mother Julie Bonsall.  She spent her Summers’ training on full scholarship at such prestigious schools as The Joffrey Ballet, Houston Ballet and Ballet West amongst others. 


Her professional career included a principle dancer with the Alabama Ballet under the direction of the renowned Dame Sonia Arova, where she danced numerous leading roles including the Sugar Plum Fairy, Le Corsaire Pas de deux as well as Snow White in Thor Sutowski's original ballet. As a member of the Atlanta she danced several ballets such as Paquita, Midsummer's Night Dream, Stars and Stripes and Carmina Burana under the direction of Robert Barnett.  She had the privilege of starting her professional career under the direction of the acclaimed Ben Stevenson at the Houston Ballet. Additionally, She was honored to have danced for the Queen of Sweden and tour Taiwan performing Balanchine’s Four Temperaments. In 2019, Nicole’s debut Pas de Deux choreography placed 3rd at the YAGP.  Nicole is proud to have graduated Cum Laude from Oakland University.


Ms. Bonsall continues to share her love of ballet and technical expertise through teaching.  She encourages her students to embrace their inner artistry and follow their true passion.

Stephanie Plankster

Stephanie, a licentiate member of the Cecchetti Council of America, holds a B.A. in Literature and Dance from the University of North Texas. She is a member of the Executive Board of the Cecchetti Council of America, a national organization, which trains examines and offers certification for teachers and students in classical ballet. She is also a member of the Summer School Committee of the CCA and serves as secretary for the organization.  She was awarded the young teachers scholarship to CCA summer school in 2001 and the Eastern Michigan Committee's Summer School Scholarship for Teacher's in 2005. In 2018, she was selected by the Cecchetti Council of America National Executive Board  as the  Sylvia Hamer Award recipient, to attend England's Cecchetti Society Teacher Symposium in Birmingham, England. 


Stephanie has performed with many modern and ballet companies in Texas and has also performed in many industrials. She now focuses on teaching and sharing her love of dance to the upcoming generation. She is a frequent guest teacher for student workshops and intensives, sharing her love of Pilates, ballet, lyrical, and modern. She has successfully presented students and teachers for certification in the Cecchetti Method. Many of Stephanie’s former students can be found performing and teaching throughout the world.


Malory Halatsis 


Malory began dancing at the age of 3, but began her training at Bunny Sanford's School of Dance at the age of 8. Aside from years of training in ballet, jazz, hip hop, modern and line styles, she was also an active member of the CAPA Dance & Acting programs and on the Varsity Pompon team at Churchill High School for 4 years. In 2012 she earned a state championship title with her collegiate pompon team, Atomic Pom. After receiving her bachelor of arts degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan-Dearborn, Malory would coach the Northville Varsity Pompon team for a total of 7 years. As a coach, her choreography holds two 2nd place state-wide High Kick titles, two 2nd place state hip-hop titles, and one first place state hip-hop title. Malory is very proud to be back at her home studio choreographing original routines and teaching high kick skills for AHAD's Junior & Senior Line groups!
